    Easy Pizza Recipes For Kids

This small pizza recipe is healthy and delicious so you can know that you are giving your little ones a healthy lunch or easy dinners that includes some greens! Such a great recipe, perfect for those fussy eaters!

I have included broccoli onto this mini pizza recipe as I know my son will give it a go as it looks fun and delicious with the cheese and tomato! Kid-friendly recipes are the best when you know you have made it yourself!

It was a close call between spinach or broccoli and I went for broccoli! Spinach you could actually hide a little bit more of you were to mix it into the tomato purée!

If your little one is gluten free, you could use a gluten free wrap, the gluten free wraps are usually the larger wraps, so if you double the recipe this would cover a large tortilla! This goes for a regular tortilla too, double the recipe if you wanted a larger pizza!

I love that this easy homemade pizza recipe is versatile for all and can be tailored so that everyone can enjoy!

You could make this an air fryer tortilla pizza too if you like, it would only need 5 minutes on 180C or 350F.

You can really get creative with this easy recipe and add a few more veggies like sweetcorn or some shredded chicken!

    Are Tortillas Vegan

Yes! The great news is if you’re vegan or your little ones are following a plant based diet, tortillas are usually vegan and dairy free! All you would need to do is follow with a vegan/dairy free cheese of your choice!

Tortillas can be a suitable option for little pizzas, as they are typically made from simple ingredients such as corn or flour, water. However, it is essential to check the labels, as some varieties may contain animal-based ingredients like dairy.

For Baby-Led Weaning (BLW), tortillas can be introduced to babies once they are developmentally ready, usually around six months of age. Soft, wholegrain tortillas can be cut into manageable pieces, making them an excellent base for various healthy fillings, allowing babies to explore different textures and flavours while promoting self-feeding.

    Broccoli Skin Benefits

Broccoli skin, while often overlooked, offers numerous benefits for baby-led weaning (BLW). Rich in dietary fibre, it aids in digestion and helps establish healthy eating habits early in life. The skin also contains valuable nutrients, including vitamins C and K, which are essential for immune function and bone health.

The presence of antioxidants in broccoli skin can support overall health by combating oxidative stress. Incorporating the skin into a child's diet can encourage a varied palate and promote the appreciation of whole vegetables, fostering a positive long-term relationship with nutritious foods.

I’d love to know what you think of this recipe and if your little kids enjoyed it!

    Ingredient information

Mini tortilla - If you haven’t tried mini tortillas you must! They are great to have in, and most have a long shelf life! They are great for lunches for your kids! They make for such a lovely thin crust foe a pizza base. You could use a pitta bread instead which would work well.

Tender stem broccoli - I find tender stem works well with this recipe, but you can use broccoli florets chopped up small. Great for little hands too!

Tomato purée - This is a great base for any homemade pizza sauce and it is great as a stand alone rich tomato sauce! Perfect as a pizza based sauce so works so well in this recipe!

Mixed herbs - I have used mixed herbs as this is a great herb to have in the store cupboard and is a staple in so many homes! If you had Italian seasoning you could use that too! You could also add a little garlic powder and olive oil too for extra flavour!

Mature Red Leicester cheese - if you haven’t tried a mature Red Leicester you must! It’s soo tasty! You can of course use cheddar or even some mozzarella! Or a mixture of both!

    Storage instructions

This easy pizza recipe can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, stored in an airtight container.

If you wanted to freeze the easy mini pizzas, you will need to make sure that the pizza has cooled down before transferring to either a freezer bag or airtight container. Ensure that the bag/airtight container is labelled with the item and the date. I use masking tape to label the airtight container. A great freezer meal option, that is needed most nights!

To defrost the pizza, leave in the fridge overnight and make sure that it is fully defrosted, before re heating.

To reheat, place the leftover pizza in an oven proof dish and reheat 180C/350F for 4-5 minutes. The pizza can be eaten at room temperature if you like.

Once the pizza has been defrosted you will not be able to reheat or refreeze.

Equipment used to help with this recipe

Baking sheet - I have chosen to use a non-stick and BPA free baking sheet - they are easy to clean and, if you buy more than one, easily stackable and easily stored.

Airtight container - I love the non-stick surface of this particular frying pan and it’s suitable for all types of hob.

    3. Spread the tomato puree onto the tortilla, leaving a slight gap around the edges.
    4. Evenly sprinkle the mixed herbs over the tomato purée.
    5. Then sprinkle the sliced broccoli stork.
    6. Sprinkle the cheese over the broccoli and decorate the top with the remaining tops of the broccoli.
    7. If you wanted to disguise the broccoli you don’t have to place the tops of the broccoli on top, you can cut the broccoli really small, and place the cheese on top.
    8. Pop the tortilla pizza under the grill for 5 minutes. Keep watch as you don’t want it to burn.
    9. Leave to cool for 5 minutes and serve.

    Notes

You could fold the tortilla over to make a quesadilla type shape, if you wanted to hide the look of the broccoli!

Feel free to customise the tortilla and use your own toppings, there are days where I only make a mini cheese pizzas using the tortilla as a base. The added veggies is a bonus. You could get your picky eaters to help you make the pizzas on your pizza night, this is a great way to help them try something new, plus it is so much fun for them to help!

You could use vegan grated cheese to make the recipe vegan and dairy free, as most tortillas are vegan and dairy free.
