    Cheeseburger Bowl For BLW

This one pot cheeseburger bowl for baby is a great recipe for busy families on busy weeknights embracing baby-led weaning, as it offers a nutritious and fun way for your little one to explore new flavours and textures from just six months old using simple ingredients.

This delicious meal combines mince beef, which provides essential protein and iron, with finely chopped vegetables like onions and gherkins for added vitamins and minerals.

A sprinkle of cheese brings a creamy richness to this easy meal that kids adore, while the option to serve it with pasta makes it a well-rounded meal for everyone at the table.

Its versatility allows for various ingredient adjustments, ensuring that it can cater to both your baby’s developmental stage and the whole family's preferences. One pot dishes are so great for making tasty quick meals for the whole family.

    Pasta For Baby

Pasta is an excellent option for baby-led weaning due to its versatility, texture, and the ease with which little ones can grasp it.

Spiral pasta, with its fun shape, is particularly engaging for infants, allowing them to practice their fine motor skills while also making it easier for them to pick up.

Penne, with its tubular shape, helps encourage self-feeding as babies can easily hold onto the ends.

Both types of pasta can be paired with various sauces, vegetables, and proteins, making it simple to create nutritious and flavourful meals that appeal to young taste buds.

    Ingredient information

Olive oil - I have used a little bit of olive oil but you can use a little oil such as avocado oil instead or an unsalted butter as an alternative.

Beef - I have used beef mince as this is a great meat to use to achieve a traditional cheeseburger taste. You can use different meat such as ground turkey as an alternative but it may not taste like a traditional burger.

Onion - Red onions are a great ingredient to keep in the fridge. I like using red onions in recipes as an alternative to white onions. You could also use an onion powder too if you prefer. You would need to use a tablespoon of the powder in the recipe.

Garlic - I have used fresh garlic but you can use a garlic powder instead for convenience.

Oregano - Oregano is a great option to have in your store cupboard. A great staple to have and use in many different meals.

Paprika - This is a great spice to include in many sauce base dishes to add depth of flavour.

Tomato puree - Tomato puree or tomato paste is great in this recipe to add flavour.

American mustard - This is a great ingredient to add that cheeseburger taste to the healthy burger bowls.

Gherkin - The most important ingredient in this recipe, as the gherkin and the gherkin juice bring the cheeseburger taste.

Beef stock - I have used a zero salt beef stock cube for this recipe, you can use a low salt variety too if you like.

Pasta - I have used a spiral pasta for this recipe but you can use penne, fuselli or even rice as alternatives.

    Serving suggestion

The one-pot cheeseburger pasta bowl is great served with crisp lettuce, quartered cherry tomatoes, cucumber and grated cheddar cheese for a perfect lunch or main meal with the whole family.

You can also stir in baby spinach to the family dinner recipe at the end of cooking for added nutrition.

You drizzle a little homemade tomato sauce over the top of the pasta too if you like.

Other recipes you may like: Creamy chicken orzo pasta bake, Orzotto or Beef mince pasta bake.

    Storage instructions

The healthy cheeseburger bowl can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Or you could portion into smaller airtight containers and store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Both can be frozen for up to 3 months. Just make sure the pasta has cooled to room temperature before transferring to an airtight container.

To defrost the cheese burger bowl and re heat correctly, take the airtight container out of the freezer and place in the fridge overnight until completely thawed.

Once thawed, place the pasta into a saucepan and reheat until piping hot, then leave to cool slightly and check the temperature before serving to your baby.

Please note that once defrosted and reheated you will not be able to freeze again.

Equipment used to help with this recipe

Saucepan - So many pan sets out there but I particularly like to use pans with a non-stick surface for ease of cleaning and ones that are suitable for different types of hob surface.

Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.
