Chicken Tikka Lasagne
Chicken tikka lasagne for baby is a delightful twist on the classic dish; Chicken tikka masala, making it an excellent choice for baby-led weaning.
This creative meal combines Indian spices and the rich flavours of Indian-inspired chicken tikka with the comforting layers of lasagne, presenting a range of textures for little ones to explore.
By using tortillas instead of traditional lasagne sheets, individual portions are easily achieved, allowing for convenient serving sizes.
This adaptation not only simplifies the preparation process but the best part is it also provides a softer and more manageable texture for babies to grasp and enjoy.
With its vibrant curry flavour and healthy ingredients, chicken tikka lasagne is sure to be a hit at mealtime.
How To Serve Lasagne To Baby
When serving lasagne to your baby for baby-led weaning, it’s best to avoid the traditional layered approach, as the texture may be challenging for little ones to handle.
Instead, consider cutting the lasagne into small, manageable pieces after it has cooled slightly which is why the silicone cups are great to use for portioning.
This allows your baby to grasp the pieces easily. Ensure the lasagne is well-cooked and moist; a slightly saucy texture helps prevent it from being too dry and difficult to chew.
You can also mash it lightly with a fork if needed, making it easier for your baby to eat independently while still enjoying the rich flavours of the dish.
Ingredient information
Olive oil - I have used olive oil, you could also use avocado oil or an unsalted butter too if you prefer.
Tikka masala paste - Curry pastes are a great way to make quick meals for baby and the whole family too. Just check the back of the box to make sure the salt and sugar levels are low. Curry pastes tend to be ok for these two things. Large sauce jars are the ones to watch out for!
Tomato puree - I have used tomato puree for an added hit of tomato and flavour.
Onion powder - I have used onion powder for a speedy cook with onion flavour of the powder. Herbs and spices are great for this.
Garlic powder - I have used garlic powder but you can use a fresh garlic clove if you have it.
Chicken - I have used cooked chicken breasts for this recipe as I had some chicken leftover. You can use packaged cooked chicken for this recipe if you did not have any leftover.
Ricotta - I have used ricotta cheese for a speedy creamy cheesy sauce for the tops of the lasagnes.
Cheese - I have used cheddar cheese to finish off the lasagnes. Feel free to use a red Leicester or grated mozzarella for the recipe too instead.
Tortillas - I have used tortillas for the recipe instead of pasta lasagne sheets. Once cooked in the lasagne they go so soft which is perfect for baby-led weaning.
Serving suggestion
The lasagne would be great served with a little cucumber salad with quartered cherry tomatoes. Green veggies such as cooked broccoli or spinach would also be great as sides.
The lasagne is great served on their own as a little meal for baby or toddler.

The lasagne can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, stored in an airtight container.
If you wanted to freeze the lasagne, you will need to wait until the lasagne has cooled to room temperature, before transferring to an airtight container or a freezer safe bag.
Be sure to label the container or freezer bag with the item and date.
To reheat the lasagne, preheat your oven to 180C or 350F and reheat for up to 15 minutes, bur be careful before serving to your baby, make sure it is cooled down before serving.
You will not be able to refreeze once defrosted and reheated.
Equipment used to help with this recipe
Silicone cups - I love reusable kitchen stuff! These silicone muffin cases are dishwasher and freezer safe and can be used in the oven up to 230 degrees C! Ideal for individual baby portions.
Baking tray - I have chosen to use a non-stick and BPA free baking sheet - they are easy to clean and, if you buy more than one, easily stackable and easily stored.
Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.

Notes
You can use lasagne pasta sheets for this recipe if you prefer. You will need to either use fresh pasta sheets or dried lasagne pasta.
If you decide to use the dried lasagne sheets you will need to soak the lasagne sheets in hot water for 10 minutes or so and then cut into squares. You should only need 2-3 sheets.
