Can Babies Have a Cheese and Bean Toastie
Yes a cheese and bean toastie for baby can be suitable from around 6 months old, provided they have shown readiness for solid foods and are developmentally prepared for varied textures.
When introducing this cheesy beans meal, opt for a suitable bread that is easy for little hands to grasp, and ensure that the cheese is pasteurised to eliminate any risk of harmful bacteria, cheddar cheese is great.
Mashed or finely chopped beans can add both nutrition and flavour, while also being a source of protein and fibre.
Always supervise your baby while they are eating, and watch for any signs of allergies or difficulty swallowing. A cheese and bean toastie can be a delicious and satisfying option for little ones on their weaning journey.
Can Baby Have Canned Baked Beans
Yes, babies can have canned baked beans, but it is essential to choose a variety that is low in salt and sugar. Many commercially available options contain additives that are not suitable for little ones.
For a healthier alternative, consider making homemade baked beans using minimal salt and natural ingredients.
This way, you can control the flavours and ensure a nutritious meal that your baby will enjoy, while also introducing them to new textures and tastes.
Ingredient information
Butter - I have used an unsalted butter for this toastie recipe, feel free to use a butter of your choice, unsalted butter is preferred from 6 months old.
Baked beans - I have used baked beans with no added sugar or salt, this is a great option for babies from 6 months old. You can also make homemade baked beans too if you have a bit more time.
Cheese - I have used a mature cheddar cheese, you can use a mild or medium cheddar cheese too. Grated mozzarella cheese or a mixture of both cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese would work nicely too.
Bread - You can use your own bread of choice for this recipe. I have used white bread, wholemeal bread would be perfect too. You could cut the crusts off the bread too if you prefer.

Instructions
- Start by heating the baked beans in a saucepan and leave them to cook on a low heat for 10 minutes or so. You want the baked beans to be very thick, so do not worry if they thicken too much, this is good. You can also mash the beans too.
