Weetabix Biscuits, Wheat Biscuits Or Wheat Bisks?
When comparing Weetabix biscuits, wheat biscuits, and wheat bisks, it's important to note that they are essentially referring to the same type of product with slight variations in spelling.
Weetabix is a brand that manufactures wheat biscuits known as Weetabix biscuits, which are also commonly referred to as wheat biscuits.
The term "wheat bisks" may simply be another variation in spelling or a generic way to describe wheat-based biscuits that are similar to Weetabix. Regardless of the specific wording used, these products typically consist of wheat-based cereal biscuits that are popular for their nutritional content and versatility in breakfast options.
The Benefits Of Wheat Biscuits For Baby-Led Weaning
Wheat biscuits are a popular choice for baby-led weaning due to their various benefits. They are easy for babies to grasp and hold, promoting the development of fine motor skills, perfect for little hands. These biscuits also dissolve easily in the baby's mouth, reducing the risk of choking and allowing the little one to practice chewing.
Additionally, wheat biscuits are iron rich-foods, fortified with essential nutrients and vitamins, which are crucial for a growing baby’s development. Introducing wheat biscuits during baby-led weaning can help babies explore different textures and flavours, fostering independence and healthy eating habits from an early age.
Can My Baby Eat Wheat Biscuits If They Have Coeliac Disease?
If your baby has been diagnosed with coeliac disease, it is crucial to avoid wheat biscuits or any other gluten-containing foods. Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disorder triggered by the ingestion of gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye.
When individuals with celiac disease consume gluten, it damages the lining of the small intestine and impairs nutrient absorption. Therefore, it is recommended to opt for gluten-free alternatives to ensure the health and well-being of your baby. Speak with your health visitor if you have any concerns or a registered dietitian for personalised advice and recommendations tailored to your baby's specific dietary needs.
What Milk Is Best To Use For This Recipe?
When preparing overnight wheat biscuits for baby-led weaning, it is crucial to select the most suitable milk for your little one. Opting for whole cow's milk can provide the necessary fat content essential for a growing baby's development.
The rich nutrients present in whole cow's milk, such as calcium and vitamin D, can support bone health and overall growth. It is important to ensure that the milk used is pasteurised to eliminate any harmful bacteria. Additionally, for babies with lactose intolerance or dairy allergies, alternatives like almond milk, oat milk or soy milk can be viable options. .
Ingredient information
Wheat biscuit - These are great aren’t they! Full of goodness and can be so versatile in different recipes. You could use a gluten-free oat flour for gluten free babies.
Whole milk - As you know I am using whole milk in recipes for my son but you can use your milk of choice to make this vegan, or even use breast milk too if you prefer from 6 months of age.
Raspberries - My son loves raspberries, and I think they match perfectly with oats and wheat biscuits.
Flax seed - I love to add flaxseed to cereal recipes for my son and I, packed full of omega 3!
Chia seed - Chia seeds are packed full of protein, so a win with filling little tummies.
Natural style Greek yogurt - Adding Greek yogurt takes this recipe to the next level with extra creaminess goodness!
Serving suggestion
You can serve this with some Greek yogurt, and layer the mixture with the yogurt. Or you could slice or mash some fresh fruits such as a ripe banana, blueberries and strawberries to make this a fruity hearty breakfast. You can also drizzle with a nut butter too.
Or it absolutely can be served without any fruit at all and just the overnight wheat biscuits and milk, which is great for weaning!
You really can tailor the recipe to what your baby/toddler enjoys.

You can leave them in the fridge overnight to thaw, once thawed they will be ok for up to 1 days in the fridge.
Equipment Used To Help With This Recipe
Large bowl - Definitely choose a stainless steel one - they are lighter than the stone or glass ones and very easy to clean.
Kilner jars - Hygienic glass jars that you can purchase either with a screw top or an airtight clip top. Ideal for storing small amounts of homemade ketchup and chutney.
Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.

Recipe notes
You can make this recipe vegan if you use your plant based milk of choice! It’s that simple! I find oat milk works so well as an alternative here, which I give to my son sometimes as a change from whole milk. You can use another mashable fruit if raspberries are not the favourite in your home.
