    Yes, you can cook scrambled eggs in the microwave for a baby following the principles of Baby-Led Weaning (BLW).

    Crack 2 eggs into a microwave-safe small bowl and beat them well. You can add a small amount of milk (whole) if you wish.

    Microwave the eggs on high power for 30 seconds, then stir.

    Continue to microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring in between, until the eggs are just set.

    Be cautious not to overcook the eggs to maintain a soft texture suitable for a baby. Remember to let the eggs cool before serving to the baby.

    Ingredient information

    Eggs - I have used two free range eggs for this egg recipe, but you can use any egg of choice if it has the lion egg stamp on it (UK) from 6 months old.

    Unsalted butter - I have used unsalted butter for flavour, you could use olive oil instead if you prefer.

    I always find the result is better when butter is used though, following my method.

    Black pepper - I have used black pepper as seasoning, salt is not needed to season and should not be used from 6 months old.

    Serving suggestion

    Eggs for 6 month old are great served with buttered toast fingers, or you can serve with mashed avocado or avocado sticks.

    Why not serve with a tasty side dish of homemade baked beans or a baby ratatouille.

    You could serve some fresh berries on the side such as blueberries, raspberries or blackberries.

    Other egg recipes for babies: Egg bites, Crustless quiche cups, Egg roll-ups or Spanish Omelette.

    Storage instructions

    To store the eggs for the next day, you will need to make sure that the scrambled eggs have cooled to room temperature.

    Once cooled, you can transfer the eggs to an airtight container and store for up to 1 day in the fridge.

    To reheat the eggs, place in a microwavable dish and heat for 30-40 seconds.

    Check that the eggs are piping hot, and leave to cool before serving to your baby.

    Whilst you can keep the eggs in the fridge for a day, they are best eaten on the day.

    Non-stick frying pan - I love the non-stick surface of this particular frying pan and it’s suitable for all types of hob.

    Airtight containers - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.

    Ingredients

    Makes 1-2 portions

    • 2 medium sized eggs

    • 2 teaspoons unsalted butter

    • Grind of black pepper (optional)

    • 1 slice wholemeal bread to serve (optional)

    Instructions

    • With the heat turned off. Start by adding your butter to your frying pan or small pan.

    • Crack your 2 eggs into the pan, no need to beat the eggs beforehand.

    • Turn on the heat to a medium heat.

    • Using a silicone spatula (I find this the easiest for scrambled egg) whisk the eggs in the pan and start moving the eggs and the butter around the pan. The butter will melt as it goes.

    • Once you have done this, quickly. Turn down to a low heat and cook the egg mixture for 1-2 minutes, Still moving the eggs around the pan.

    • Take off the heat and leave for 30 seconds or so and serve with buttered toast fingers and a grind of black pepper on top of the eggs if you like.

    • Check it is not too hot before serving to your little ones.
