    What Is Yogurt Bark?

This yogurt bark recipe is a delightful and nutritious snack with no added sugar that has gained popularity for its simplicity and versatility. To make yogurt bark, creamy yogurt is spread in a thin layer on a baking sheet and then topped with an assortment of delicious and healthy ingredients such as fresh fruits, nuts, seeds, and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup (from 12 months).

Once frozen, the yogurt bark is broken into deliciously crunchy pieces that are perfect for snacking or as a light dessert on hot summer days. Not only is yogurt bark a convenient and satisfying treat, but it's also a great way to incorporate probiotics and essential nutrients into your baby’s diet.

Whether enjoyed as a quick energy boost or a guilt-free indulgence, yogurt bark is a tasty and customisable snack that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Can I Serve Yogurt Bark To My Baby?

Absolutely! Yogurt bark can be a wonderful snack option for your baby. It provides the creamy texture and mild flavour that babies tend to enjoy, while also offering the nutritional benefits of yogurt. Just ensure that the yogurt bark is made with whole milk Greek yogurt to provide the necessary fats for your baby's development.

You can also add pureed fruits or a sprinkle of finely ground oats for added nutrients and flavour. However, it's important to check with your health visitor before introducing new foods to your baby to ensure that they are developmentally ready. Always monitor your baby for any signs of allergies and introduce new foods one at a time. Enjoy this tasty healthy snack with your little one!

Greek Yogurt Bark for Dairy-Free or Vegan Diets?

Yes! Creating a dairy-free or vegan version of yogurt bark is not only possible but also delicious and nutritious. For those with a dairy intolerance or following a vegan diet, coconut or almond milk yogurt can be used as a creamy and satisfying base.

Flavoured with fruit puree, this dairy-free or vegan yogurt bark becomes a delightful treat that is gentle on the stomach and meets dietary restrictions. Topped with an assortment of fresh fruits, nut butter, it becomes a versatile snack that offers a burst of flavours and textures. By making simple ingredient swaps and being mindful of allergens, everyone can enjoy this delightful and wholesome frozen treat.

A Fun Treat This Valentine’s Day

Yogurt bark is a delightful and nutritious treat that can be a wonderful option for your baby on Valentine's Day. Not only is this treat visually appealing with its vibrant colours and nutrition, but it also provides a healthy dose of calcium, probiotics, and essential vitamins from the fruit. It's a delightful way to celebrate the day of love while keeping your baby happy and healthy.

    Breaking Up The Yogurt Bark

To break up yogurt bark, it's best to use a knife, pizza cutter or your hands. The firm texture of the frozen yogurt and any added toppings make it difficult to break apart with your hands, so using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter will help you create neat and even pieces.

Simply lay the yogurt bark on a cutting board and use a knife or pizza cutter to gently slice through it, creating bite-sized portions. If you'd like to get creative, you can also use cookie cutters to create fun shapes from the bark. Just press the cutter firmly into the bark and lift the shaped piece out. Enjoy the delicious and satisfying crunch of your homemade yogurt bark, a healthy dessert for the whole family.

    Baby Yogurt vs Regular Yogurt

Baby yogurt is specially formulated to meet the unique nutritional needs of infants and young children. It typically contains a higher ratio of fat and sugar. Additionally, baby yogurts often contain added nutrients like iron and vitamin D to ensure that little ones are getting all the essential vitamins and minerals they need.

On the other hand, regular yogurt is generally lower in sugar, making it a suitable option for babies and adults looking for a snack or meal. While both types of yogurt can be part of a healthy diet, it is essential to choose the right one based on age-specific nutritional requirements.

    Storage instructions

    This can definitely be frozen!

The good news is it can be kept in the freezer for up to 3 months, I would store in air lock freezer bags or airtight containers. Makes it easier to store and grab when you need!

Equipment Used To Help With This Recipe

Baking sheet - I have chosen to use a non-stick and BPA free baking sheet - they are easy to clean and, if you buy more than one, easily stackable and easily stored.

Mixing bowl - I like to use a stainless steel mixing bowl - they are usually lightweight and easy to clean.

Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.
