Greek Yogurt Pancake For Baby
3 ingredient Greek yogurt pancakes are the best pancakes for baby-led weaning due to their simplicity and nutritional benefits using simple ingredients for an easy breakfast for those busy mornings.
Made with just 3 ingredients—Greek yogurt, flour, and egg—these healthy pancakes are rich in protein and calcium, essential for your baby's growth and development.
The texture is soft and easy for little hands to grasp, encouraging self-feeding while minimising the risk of choking.
They can be quickly prepared and customised with added fruit or spices, making them a versatile choice for introducing various flavours to your little one’s diet.
What Does Yogurt Do In Pancakes
Yogurt enhances pancakes for baby led weaning (BLW) by adding moisture and a creamy texture, making them softer and easier for little ones to chew.
It naturally sweetens the batter while providing beneficial probiotics that support gut health in infants.
Yogurt is a source of protein and calcium, contributing to a more nutritious meal for a healthy breakfast or snack.
The incorporation of yogurt can also help create a thicker batter, resulting in fluffy pancakes that hold together well, making them perfect for little hands to grasp and enjoy independently.
Ingredient information
Egg - I have used a free range egg for this yogurt pancake recipe which is all you need to make a small batch of pancakes for baby and the whole family too.
Flour - I have used self raising flour for this recipe to give the pancakes a little rise. You can use regular flour such as plain flour too if you like.
Greek yogurt - I have used a plain whole-milk Greek yogurt for the recipe, you can use a plain natural yogurt too if you do not have a plain Greek yogurt. You could use cottage cheese too as an alternative.
Butter - I have used unsalted butter to cook the pancakes, you can use coconut oil, olive oil or avocado oil for non dairy alternatives.
Serving suggestion
The 3-ingredient protein pancakes can be served with a little more plain Greek yogurt for dipping. In addition to the yogurt they can be served with fresh fruit such as quartered strawberries, fresh blueberries or fresh raspberries, which are all a great option for baby-led weaning.
Before cutting the fluffy yogurt pancakes you can spread with a little peanut butter or almond butter.
To serve the easiest pancakes from 6 months old, cut into strips and from about 9 months old you can cut into squares.

Storage instructions
The good news is that these pancakes can be frozen for up to 3 months in the freezer if you have any leftover pancakes. They can be stored in a freezer bag or a an airtight container.
To store in the airtight container the best way to do this is layer the pancakes in a single layer in between parchment paper. You could also store in individual small airtight containers if this is easier. It may be an idea to stack the pancakes in between layers of parchment paper.
If you are storing in the fridge they can be kept in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
To defrost and reheat, what you will need to do, is take out the pancake from the freezer and place in the fridge overnight to fully thaw.
Once thawed they can be enjoyed cold, or you can reheat in the oven on a baking sheet on 180C or 350F for 5 minutes.
Check that they are hot all the way through, and leave to cool at an acceptable temperature for your baby.
Equipment used to help with this recipe
Pyrex jug - A measuring jug is a must-have kitchen utensil and I like the glass Pyrex jugs hygiene and ease of cleaning. The measuring markers are easily readable too.
Frying pan - I love the non-stick surface of this particular frying pan and it’s suitable for all types of hob.
Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.

To make the recipe gluten-free, you can use a gluten-free self raising flour, gluten free oat flour or an almond flour if your little one is ok with nuts.
