    Banana Muffins For Baby

Banana muffins for baby recipe are an excellent homemade snack option for baby-led weaning, as they are soft, easy to hold, and packed with natural sweetness from overripe bananas with lots of brown spots, meaning there's no need for added sugar suitable from 6 months of age, great for little hands to hold.

The healthy baby muffins provide a wholesome blend of nutrients, including potassium and fibre, which are essential for your little one's development using simple ingredients.

They can be easily customised by incorporating other baby-friendly ingredients, such as raspberries or nut butters, to further enhance their texture and flavour.

These muffins can be made in batches and frozen, ensuring you always have a nutritious easy snack or easy breakfast on hand for your baby. Banana pancakes are another great option for easy and quick meals.

Please see below how to store at room temperature.

How To Serve Muffins To Baby

To serve homemade muffins to babies from six months old, cut the muffins in half or serve whole.

Choose muffins with soft textures and wholesome ingredients like mashed bananas or finely grated vegetables to ensure they are gentle on delicate gums.

Offer the healthy banana muffins as finger food during mealtimes, allowing your baby to explore different flavours and textures independently.

Always supervise your little one while eating to ensure safety, and be ready to assist with any larger pieces they may struggle with. Remember to introduce new flavours one at a time to monitor for any potential allergies.

    Ingredient information

Oats - I have used rolled oats that I have blitzed in a Nutri bullet. You could use gluten-free oats for gluten-free babies and older kids to ensure the muffins are 100% gluten-free.

Banana - I have used a mashed banana for the recipe to add the sweetness to the muffins to replace the sugar that would usually be in a muffin recipe.

Egg - I have used one free range egg for this finger foods recipe.

Milk - I have used whole milk, but you can use a milk of your choice.

Sweet cinnamon - I have used sweet cinnamon but you can use regular cinnamon for the recipe.

Baking powder and Bicarbonate soda - I have used a raising agent for the recipe that the muffins need.

    Serving suggestion

The sugar-free banana muffins would be great served with a dollop of plain Greek yogurt for dipping or fresh berries such as strawberries or raspberries.

You can halve the muffins and spread with a smooth peanut butter too for added protein and nutrition.

Other healthy muffin recipes you may like: Banana & raspberry muffins, Pizza bread muffin or Ricotta cheese muffins.

    Storage instructions

Store the baby-friendly banana muffin recipe in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

The muffins can be frozen in an airtight container or in a freezer bag for up to 3 months.

Be sure to label the freezer bags with the item and date, so it is clear how long they can be stored.

To label the airtight container I use masking tape this way it will not ruin the airtight container.

To defrost the muffins, keep them in an airtight container and defrost in the fridge overnight. Make sure they are fully defrosted before serving.

Equipment used to help with this recipe

Standard muffin tin - A non-stick muffin pan that will easily clean any spills from the muffin cases. You will need one of these to easily hold the muffin cases.

Silicone cups - I love reusable kitchen stuff! These silicone muffin cases are dishwasher and freezer safe and can be used in the oven up to 230 degrees C! Ideal for individual baby portions.

Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.

Nutri bullet - I have found a blender to be an invaluable tool in the preparation of many of my baby led weaning recipes.
