The Benefits Of Spinach For Baby?
Fresh baby spinach is not only a nutritionally great food but also an excellent choice for introducing solid foods to babies (and a great recipe for the whole family). Packed with essential vitamins and minerals such as iron and calcium spinach helps support healthy development. Its mild, slightly sweet taste makes it appealing to babies, while its soft texture makes it easy to digest. Whether pureed and added to baby food or steamed and mashed as a finger food, spinach provides a beneficial boost to a baby's diet. It is worth noting that spinach has a high nitrate content, so it is recommended to introduce it to babies after the age of six months to minimise any potential risks. Overall, spinach is a versatile and nutrient-dense vegetable that can support a baby's growth and overall health.
The Benefits of Egg In Baby’s Diet?
Eggs are a fantastic food to introduce to your little one during the exciting journey of baby-led weaning. They are highly nutritious and offer a wealth of benefits for your baby's development. Packed with protein, eggs provide the essential amino acids required for growth and repair of tissues. They also contain important vitamins like vitamin D, which aids in bone health, and choline, crucial for brain development. Baby-led weaning with eggs is a wonderful opportunity to introduce your baby to new textures and flavours as they explore the soft, easy-to-handle portions of scrambled eggs or the finger-friendly eggs such as this recipe. Eggs with the lion stamp (UK) are the eggs to choose for your baby.
Why Finger Foods Are Great For Baby’s Development?
Finger foods play a crucial role in the baby-led weaning journey, offering a plethora of benefits for little ones. These tiny fingers of nutrition are not only fun and visually appealing, but they also promote fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and self-feeding independence in infants. By introducing finger foods early on, babies learn to grasp, hold, and explore a variety of textures, shapes, and flavours. As they nibble on soft fruits, steamed vegetables, and small pieces of cooked meats, they develop their chewing abilities and become accustomed to different taste sensations. Moreover, finger foods empower babies to control their own meals. So, whether it's avocado, or slices of roasted sweet potatoes, finger foods certainly pave the way to a balanced and adventurous palate.
Can My Baby Eat Mozzarella?
Yes! Grated mozzarella can be an excellent option for introducing new flavours and textures to babies during the baby led weaning phase. With its mild and creamy taste, grated mozzarella melts easily, making it a perfect choice for little ones to explore and enjoy. The soft, stringy texture of grated mozzarella allows babies to practice their fine motor skills as they pick up and explore the cheese. Whether sprinkled on top of roasted vegetables, added to homemade pizzas, or mixed into eggs, grated mozzarella adds a touch of richness while providing a good source of calcium and protein. It's important, however, to ensure that the mozzarella is grated finely and that the serving size is appropriate for your baby's age and stage of weaning.

Ingredient information
Eggs - I have used free range eggs with the lion stamp, as these eggs are perfect for weaning baby from 6 months old.
Grated mozzarella - My son loves grated mozzarella at the moment, you could use cheddar cheese instead if you would like.
Mixed herbs - One of my recommended staples in my store cupboard.
Spinach - I always worry my son is not getting enough greens, this is perfect for a quick recipe! You could use frozen spinach too!
Serving suggestion
This would be great served with some cucumber batons, quartered tomatoes, green vegetables, sweet potato wedges! Equally this is a great lunch idea that can be served on its own too! It is a great finger food for baby and a great lunch idea for Mummy too! If you wanted to add some toast fingers to the plate that would work too!
As a little dessert you could serve a 2 ingredient strawberry dessert or a mango pot.
Storage instructions
The great news is that the spinach and eggs can be frozen. All you will need to do to store them in the freezer is grab some airlock freezer bags, or you can stack them in between some parchment paper and store in airtight containers for up to 3 months. A great lunch or breakfast or snack idea that can be pulled from the freezer whenever you need.
You can store the spinach and eggs in the fridge for up to 3 days in the same way.
Equipment used to help with this recipe
Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.
Pyrex Jug - I use this jug for so many recipes, holds hot heat really well, and is generally a great jug to use.
Saucepan - I really enjoy using this set of non-stick pans, they have been a good purchase.
