Puff pastry - The main ingredient, is quick and easy to use ready rolled puff pastry, I like the convenience as you can make quick and easy recipes with it. The festive snack using pastry. If you have any excess pastry from the Christmas pizza this can be used later if it is frozen,
Tomato puree - You can make your own tomato sauce as a new recipe or shop bought tomato puree is ok to use too, or pizza sauce of your choice.
Oregano - A perfect herb for a Christmas tree puff pastry pizza with a plethora of health benefits as outlined above! As an alternative you could use dried mixed herbs instead or even fresh basil.
Cheddar cheese - If you did not have cheddar cheese you could use grated mozzarella cheese or grated red Leicester.
Serving suggestion
The puff pastry Christmas tree pizzas would be great served alongside a mango pot, or served with some courgette fries, potato skin on fries with roasted carrots.
Storage instructions
The puff pastry Christmas tree’s can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, stored in an airtight container.
If you wanted to freeze the Christmas tree’s, you will need to make sure that the Christmas tree’s have cooled down before transferring to either a freezer bag or airtight container. Ensure that the bag/airtight container is labelled with the item and the date. I use masking tape to label the airtight container.
To defrost the Christmas tree’s, leave in the fridge overnight and make sure that they are fully defrosted, before re heating.
To reheat, place the Christmas tree’s in a oven proof dish and reheat 180C/350F for 4-5 minutes. You can add an extra sprinkling of cheddar cheese if you wish, they can be eaten at room temperature.
Once the Christmas tree’s have been defrosted you will not be able to reheat or refreeze.

Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.
Baking sheet - I have chosen to use a non-stick and BPA free baking sheet - they are easy to clean and, if you buy more than one, easily stackable and easily stored.
Christmas tree cutters - Choose stainless steel ones, they are food safe and strong enough to cut through pastry and other doughs.

- Pre heat your oven to 180C or 350F (fan). Line a baking sheet with baking parchment.
- Start by cutting a Christmas tree shape from the sheets of puff pastry, until you have 8, and place on the prepared baking sheets. You could use a sharp knife or pizza cutter instead.
- If you have any excess pastry, you can store for another day in the freezer, or make more.
- Next spread the tomato puree, equally over the middle of the tree, including the top of the tree.
- Sprinkle each Christmas tree with oregano, followed by the cheddar cheese.
- Pop the puff pastry tree into a preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown!
Notes
You can easily make this recipe with simple ingredients gluten free this festive season for the first time, all you will need to do is use a gluten free puff pastry. If you wanted to make the recipe vegan and dairy free, you will need to swap out the cheddar cheese for a vegan cheese of your choice.
You could add green pepper or quartered cherry tomatoes as extra veggie toppings.
